About QuadMag
Established in January 1997, quadmag.com was originally founded by dancer/ promoter/ actor/ webguy TeN of Quad — who named the site after his dance crew — as a place to share photos, ideas and interviews covering all aspects of the then-blossoming underground scene and share his love of dance with the world.
When I met TeN, it was the time of Jamal’s formative Capitol Phat parties and the birth of Stone Groove Family in the back room of 1739 (Rest in Pieces!!). QuadMag was the only media interested in my interview with Del the Funky Homosapien because the Weekly and the daily rags were sleeping hard on what we all hoped would be the movement to take over the Island, if not the world.
My how things have changed. The daily papers have woken up, and actually pay attention to hiphop and electronic music events, while the alternative editors work to stay one step ahead. The club scene going off almost every night, Chinatown is revived and the clubs are NICE. Many media have since sprung up in print and online each adding their twist to music exposure in Hawaii.
In our commitment to the musical community, quadmag.com supports creative events in Honolulu and San Franciso, but always with an eye to the Islands. When QuadMag and our affiliates get behind an artist or event, it’s with the aim to give that person, group, product or event a boost into the Honolulu market.
Finally, TeN of Quad is back home on a regular basis, so keep your eyes out for his next musical, dance-filled gathering, brought to you by QuadMag.com. Coming Soon!
