Stone Groove Family Better late than never. Stone Groove Radio is already on show #16 so tune in now to a crew that’s been holding it down for more than a minute now both in the clubs and on the radio.

Hearing them on the radio reminds me of the KNDI Sound Lab and Surundi (RIP my friend) and late nights on a.m. radio lol aw man. This was in like the late 90s. Surundi recruited me to help out and then my journalism training kicked in and I became the slightly geeked out hiphop news girl. The two-hour show would air late Thursday night after Lightsleepers from this tiny, plantation home-turned-studio on King Street across from Zippy’s. Grant, Jerry, Gary and Jason were regular guests. Thugs, artists and promoters rolled through in random states of inebriation, Jeru, Das EFX, DJ Swamp, MTV Real World among them. All apparently oblivious to the fact that we probably didnt have 100 listeners. Nevermind tho cuz the music was as it is now an unapologetic mix of underground and more hardcore. It was always a party in there, especially after Surundi began to share the reigns with T-Bone and Simon from Black Flys.

Stone Groove Radio is not exactly the same of course, but, that’s what it reminds me of. Check it out. Stone Groove Radio. Lots of local hiphop is featured, including Creed Chameleon on Show #15. I haven’t heard it yet, but am hoping for a taste of his new album coming out.
